What is Handoff, and what does it cost?
Handoff is AI estimating and proposal software for residential remodelers. You describe a job, or upload photos or plans, and it builds an estimate from a cost catalog, then turns it into a proposal the client can sign and pay. Higher plans add a CRM, AI renderings and more users.
Software Advice lists three plans (October 2026): Flex at $149/month, Pro at $299/month and Scale at $899/month. On Capterra it's rated 4.5 out of 5 from 42 reviews.
Why do contractors look for Handoff alternatives?
- Price: $149 to $899 a month is a lot if you already price jobs in a spreadsheet or another estimating tool
- Scope: Handoff is about the number and the proposal, not scheduling, job costing or running the project
- Team size: in-home sales teams with several reps may want tools built around reps and tablets
- The sale itself: a clear price doesn't help much if the client still can't picture the finished room and goes with the cheaper bid

Prices from each company's pricing page or its Capterra or Software Advice listing, checked October 2026. Prices change, so confirm before you buy. Handoff and the other names are trademarks of their owners; we're not related to any of them. We make Remodel in 360, so weigh our view of our own product accordingly.
1. Remodel in 360: best for winning the job, not pricing it
Handoff helps you get a clean number to the client fast. Remodel in 360 helps the client say yes to it. Take 2 phone photos at the estimate, say what changes, and about 6 minutes later the client walks through their own kitchen or bathroom in 360°, before and after, with every change labeled.
At our own remodeling company, our close rate went from 3 in 10 estimates to 5–6 in 10 after we started sending 360° tours.
- The client's real room, not a drawn model or a stock rendering
- 2 change rounds per tour, about 2 minutes each
- One link for WhatsApp, text or email, no app for your client
- Plans: Starter $49/month (4 tours), Pro $99 (12), Team $249 (35). See pricing
The tradeoff: no estimating, proposals, e-signatures or payments. Many contractors use Handoff or another estimating tool for the number and Remodel in 360 for the picture.

Which alternatives are best for estimates and proposals?

6. Buildertrend

Which Handoff alternatives use AI?
Handoff's main pitch is AI estimating. If AI is the reason you're looking, the alternatives use it for different jobs:
- Togal.AI: AI takeoffs that measure areas and count symbols on plans. Growth is $299 per user per month, billed yearly; Business is custom for 4+ users
- Remodel in 360: AI turns 2 photos of the client's real room into a 360° before & after of the finished remodel, so the client can see what they're buying
- magicplan: scans the room with your phone to make floor plans, then builds estimates from them. Free version; paid plans from $9.99 per user per month
See also AI kitchen remodel and AI bathroom remodel for how AI visuals work on real jobs.
Is there a free Handoff alternative?
Not one that does everything Handoff does. The closest free options each cover one part: Houzz Pro has a free plan with basic CRM and estimates, magicplan has a free version for floor plans, and Remodel in 360's first full tour is free with no card. JobTread and Materio offer free trials.
How do you choose the right Handoff alternative?
Name the part you use
Is it the AI estimate, the proposal and signature, the CRM, or the renderings? Pick the tool that's strongest at that.
Price the real setup
Count users, setup fees and add-ons. Per-user pricing adds up fast with a sales team.
Check where deals stall
If clients get your number and go quiet, the problem is often that they can't picture the job. See how to follow up on a remodeling estimate.
Try it on one real job
Use the free plan or trial on your next estimate before you switch everything.
When should you stay with Handoff?
If you want AI estimates from photos or plans, a pricing catalog, proposals, e-signatures and payments in one place, Handoff does all of that and Remodel in 360 doesn't. Some contractors keep Handoff for the number and add Remodel in 360 for the picture, so the client sees the finished room next to the price.
