How to work out your close rate
Count the estimates you sent in the last 6 or 12 months and the jobs that signed from them. Divide signed jobs by estimates. 18 signed out of 60 estimates is a 30% close rate.
Use estimates you actually priced and sent, not every phone call. If you sell different kinds of jobs, work out each one separately: bathrooms often close differently from whole-house remodels.
What's a good close rate for remodeling?
It depends a lot on your market, price point and where leads come from. Referral leads close far better than leads you buy. There's no single right number, so the most useful comparison is with yourself last year.
At our own remodeling company, our close rate went from 3 in 10 estimates to 5–6 in 10 after we started sending 360° tours. That's one company's result, not an industry average.
Ways to raise it
- Answer new leads within minutes
- Make sure every decision-maker is at the estimate
- Offer good, better and best options
- Show the client their finished room, not just a price
- Follow up with something new to look at, not "just checking in"
